Moving Forward: When Life Gives you Lemons

In recently years I haven't had the success I once had in my career. After AI came out, and my reluctance to initially embrace it, has only set me back in my career, and so I feel that I need to once again re-invent myself.

Potential Career Focus

I feel like in order to catch back up with DevOps as a career, it will take a lot of dedication, but it might also not amount to anything either. By the time I have upgraded my skills, it is very well possible that DevOps Engineer may no longer even be a title, as AI can do a lot of the automation which a typical DevOps has to perform, and with advancements in AI and various tools, it is only a matter of time before aspiring to this career wouldn't go very far, and only those with superior skills in AI to automate DevOps will ever go far.

Another potential career to aspire to could perhaps be in social services, which isn't rooted in technology whatsoever, and I believe is a job which will always require a human connection. I am currently awaiting my new identification for where I've relocated, then I will be-able to use the local services, namely the career counselor to discuss this option in more detail, and look into potential training if needed.

Outside a Formal Career

I am also thinking that in the meantime while waiting on a career counselor and potentially getting into social services, I am thinking of working on several other projects of mine in the meantime. As some of my readers might already know, I have been working on game development from time to time, and feel that if I just continue at it that I can eventually create something compelling enough. I will also be expanding the website I have built to host my games, RPGTube.app. I was initially going to be creating a YouTube-like website, but for easily sharing of RPG games. Since the initial launch of this website, very little additional work has really went into it. I am finally going to be putting in some real effort into this idea, and to flush it out with a few additional features, including the ability to host actual videos alongside the hosting of RPG games. As my skills really lack in UX/UI design, I will be using AI to generate the front-end HTML/CSS template code so that the website appears more modern and much easier to use over all. The website will also host a small blog of sorts about game development, alongside some tutorials for various game engines which I have experience with. I will be starting on this as soon as possible, so please look forward to updates soon.

The Lemonade

While AI is the lemon for me in this narrative, and it is a part of why my career fell apart. I will now be using AI to assist me with moving forward with my other goals in life, such as building better UI/UX for websites that I will create. I will still be writing the client-side and server-side code to drive these websites of course, as I really have a passion for programming, and don't want to delegate this aspect of the development to an AI, as I want to continue building and updating these parts of my websites myself, while handing over the parts which I loathe to do, namely the HTML/CSS portions, which I constantly fail at. I never liked HTML/CSS development, and so most of my better websites tended to use frameworks to allow them to at least look somewhat polished, but when trying to create a custom web application such as RPGTube.app, I need something a bit more custom than what I am able to do with say Bootstrap or Bulma. I feel like AI can fill this gap for me, and allow me to eventually build nice websites to look at, while still running code that I personally still write myself.
